About Us

Morning Star Studio began as an idea many years ago... However life happens and the idea didn’t become reality until 2002 when Linda Jones and Shelly Fraley began sharing what they knew about stained glass with friends. Starting with an ‘Among Friends’ night in Shelly’s garage on the ping pong table, the idea grew as interest grew and a studio was set up at Linda’s for continuing classes. As things began to sell and custom orders came in as we attended the local arts and crafts shows, the idea developed into a desire to move Morning Star Studio into town. The awe inspiring Homer area views give us the foundation for our designs.

Linda Jones, Artist/Owner

Art has always been a part of Linda's life. As a little girl, she learned to pull together color and design from her mother, a portrait painter and mixed media artist. Linda draws her inspiration from the beautiful Alaskan palette she has grown up in. She is proficient in stained glass, fusing, flamework and mosaic.

Dawn Cabana, Artist

Glass art has become a passion for Dawn who specializes in stained glass, fusing and mosaic. As a longtime Alaskan and commercial fisherwoman, Dawn brings her own fresh ideas and captures the beauty of the sea in her original art pieces.

Shelly Fraley, Artist

Originally inspired by her high school art teacher to learn stained glass, Shelly brings an enthusiasm to her art and teaching. She loves to show her students the fun and wonders of glass. She has an eye for detail, which shows in her many original designs.
